Performer / Host / Producer LaFern Cusack currently produces and hosts 710 ESPN's Experience (Sun. 5a-6a) and Radio Disney AM1110 Playground (Sun 6:30a-7a). With these shows LaFern delivers an inspiring, dynamic and insightful experience to listeners. She brings her humor, warmth and talent for tackling topical community issues with her unique style connecting with every aspect of the show. LaFern has been recognized numerous times for her talent and work, including receiving the National Rising Star B.E.L.L. Award from American Women in Radio and Television. The Southern California Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television's Board of Directors selected LaFern to receive the Tracey Miller Merit Award which honors an AWRT Southern California Chapter member who has who has shown an outstanding commitment to AWRT, the chapter, and who has made positive contributions to the broadcasting industry. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa also recognized LaFern for her broadcasting work, commitment to the community and participating in the annual Environmental Youth Conference created under the vision of Commissioner Cynthia Ruiz. LaFern is a talented actress, voiceover professional, producer and host. She has appeared in ABC's Boston Legal, The Oprah Winfrey Show, FOX's The Bernie Mac Show, SciFi's Bats-Human Harvest, Lifetime's "What Should You Do?" and Universal Pictures' pilot The 900 Lives of Jackie Frye. Her stage performances include Robey Theatre Company's Dessalines and Permanent Collection which was revived at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, Retro TV's Spoof is All Around. Emmy Winning Director, Chuck Smith cast her in The Temple at ETA, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Blues For An Alabama Sky at the Goodman Theatre and also at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Cusack also serves as the Director of Community Affairs for the Southern California Broadcasters Association. In this position she facilitates the use of public service announcements on local radio and television stations and publishes the weekly EEO Job Alert Bulletin at www.scba.com which helps radio and television stations recruit qualified employees and meet FCC employment practice guidelines. She serves on the Board of Directors for Print Interactive Radio and Television Educational Society (P.I.R.A.T.E.S), Advisory Board for American Women in Radio and Television Southern California Chapter, Advisory Board for LA36, Development Committee for Mutineer Theatre Company and the Mayor's Office of Census 2010 Communications Steering Committee. LaFern is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and Actors Equity Association.
